Forest Bathing
Forest bathing is a form of eco therapy that allows us to slow down, reconnect with nature and be more mindful. In its most simple form, we are taking a walk in the woods while paying attention to our surrounding; the sights, sounds, smells, etc.
If you’re not a fan of the woods, you can take a walk on a bike path or down a tree lined street (hopefully with very few cars). The beauty of forest / tree bathing, is that many of us can do it with very little effort.
While you’re walking, try to move slowly. Notice your desire to look down, and bring your vision first eye level and then look upward and around at your surroundings.
Look for and listen to the birds that may be in your area. Notice whether the wind is moving the branches of the trees and feel the air or sun on your skin.
Becoming very present in nature can be a powerful and joyful experience. When we are present in our lives, we are living most fully.
We eliminate the stress in our lives when we are present and mindful.
If you enjoy walking with a friend please continue to do so, but also try to notice the beauty not only of your companion, but also of the nature that surrounds you!
