Starter Green Smoothie

Starter Green Smoothie Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups spinach
1 Clementine
½ banana*
½ cup strawberries or other berries*
1 TBSP flax, chia or hemp seed
1 – 2 cups water, depending on how thick or thin you like your drink
1 cup of plain Greek yogurt or 1 serving of protein powder (optional)**

Directions:

Add ingredients to your blender.  Blend on high until well blended.  Add the yogurt or protein powder and blend for 2 – 5 more seconds.  If you blend too long it will become frothy.  You can also add more water if it’s too thick. 

*Keeping frozen fruit (or greens) available makes the smoothie colder and easy to make.  I find they taste better colder.  You can also blend in some ice as an alternative option. 

**If you don’t have time to eat your protein, adding some to your smoothie makes it a complete meal. 

Learning to love your smoothie tip

When you drink green smoothies, you feed your body an amazing combination of nutrients, vitamins, minerals, fiber, healthy fat and protein.  You are literally infusing yourself with good health. 

Your taste buds however, may not be as excited if you don’t love vegetables.  You can bypass this small issue if you breathe through your mouth while drinking them.  Your body will thank you and your taste buds will change over time.  (I speak from direct experience on this.)
