Meal Delivery Services: Pre-Cooked and You Prep Options
Preparing meals every day can get really tiring. Many of us have 15 - 20 meals that we make over and over again. It’s challenging to come up with new ways to make meals interesting and healthy.
Over the past 2 weeks we have thoroughly enjoyed preparing the meals we selected from the Blue Apron company. We picked the 3 meals per week option from their “Wellness” menu and for the most part, the meals have been very healthy and definitely delicious.
While talking with a client about this today, she said she also had tried one of these services and mostly liked it but didn’t have time to prep the meals at the end of the day. Later that day I went to the mailbox to find an advertisement for a company that does all the prep work for you and you simply have to heat the meals up (Freshly was the Ad).
While neither of these services are particularly new ideas they both are great time savers and offer an opportunity to expand our repertoire of meals really easily. The laminated recipe cards give you all the ingredients to replicate the meals with specific directions on the back.
So how much does all of this cost is what most people want to know? I can’t answer that for every company but I can say that what we looked at included several free meals (16 from Blue Apron and from Hello Fresh). We went with Blue Apron only because we had an easier time navigating their site.
The meals are approximately $9 - $10 per serving and there is a $10 shipping cost. We signed up for 6 weeks and may or may not continue after that time. Meals are delivered on Saturday and we can cancel any week if we need to or change our order if we want to.
It has only been two weeks but every time we look at the meals we’ve preselected for the future weeks, we’re super excited about our next delivery. And for meal prep to be fun, that’s very exciting as well!
Final Note:
I wanted to include some information on what the “best” meal delivery options were for people but there seems to be quite a bit of differing opinion on the subject. I can only say that we have loved Blue Apron so far and I know that several people have tried Hello Fresh and have also loved that service.
