Kale Chips
We recently bought an air fryer and have been having lots of fun experimenting with many foods in it. While this is not my favorite, I do love how easy it is to eat large amounts of cooked kale with these chips.
Kale is a superfood, but the flavor isn’t super exciting to me. The nutritional value is however.
It’s a low calorie and low carb food (1 cup is 33 calories and only 7 grams of carbohydrates). It’s also high in Vitamin C, B6, A & K, calcium, potassium, manganese and copper.
Kale chips can be made in the oven but they are even easier to make if you own an airfryer and they come out better because of the shaking midway.
They’re a lovely mixture of crispy and tender, they’re easy to eat and I always feel better after eating them. If you’re on the fence about trying them, let your health win this one and do it!
As we age, our bodies respond so much better to healthy foods and eating smarter. We still can have treats, but loading up on nutrient dense foods beforehand will make it easier for our bodies to process our less healthy choices.
Ingredients:
4 - 5 stems of organic curly kale, stems removed, chopped
olive oil spray
salt
Directions:
Preheat your airfryer (400 degrees for 5 minutes)
Add a handful of chopped kale (about a 2” layer) and lightly spray with olive oil. Add a small amount of salt (if your diet allows).
If your air fryer is large enough, add another layer and repeat (olive oil spray and salt).
Cook at 380 degrees for 4 minutes, shaking halfway through.
That’s it. It’s super easy, amazingly healthy and easy to clean up. What’s not to love?
