Ponzu Sauce

Cooking every day gets tiring, so anytime I find something that makes the process easier I have to share. Ponzu sauce is one of those things.

It provide the flavors of “sweet, sour, tangy, salty, and savory” all at once with no real effort, aside from opening the bottle and shaking some onto your food or using it as a dipping sauce.

It’s a Japanese sauce that combines soy sauce, rice vinegar, mirin, and yuzu and sudachi fruit. You can make a variation of it yourself, but for me, that would defeat the purpose of its ease.

Where I use it most often:

  • Over stir-fry vegetables - to give them a more interesting flavor while still keeping them healthy

  • As a tofu marinade - mixed with chili paste, honey, and rice vinegar (2 TBSP each + 1/4 cup of water —- cook tofu in preheated air fryer for 10 minutes at 400 degrees for a spicy, healthy treat)

  • Shaken over rice - which eliminates the need for butter

It’s not something you can always find in the supermarket but I’ve had no trouble getting it on Amazon.

If you’ve never had it and are feeling courageous, give it a try!

If you have a healthy sauce or recipe that you love and would be willing to share, please connect with me and I’ll share it with everyone.

Happy Cooking.
