Your Life in Jelly Beans
This short video shows us all the parts of our lives (work, sleep, eating, playing, etc.) in pictures of these activities using the approximate amount of jelly beans (time) that the average person spends on each activity during a lifetime.
It’s thought provoking and really cool to watch the jelly bean designs they make.
I’m sharing this with you in the stress-relief and mindfulness section of the blog because I want to help you to think about what is working well in your life and what you may want to do differently. We often spend time worrying about things that may happen in the the future of something that didn’t go well in the past.
The more time we can spend in the present moment, the more likely we are to enjoy our lives. Meditation and mindfulness are the keys to helping us practice presence and acceptance of what’s happening each moment.
Last week we shared some ideas about how you could start changing your life 1% at a time with super easy and manageable habits (Atomic Habits). This included the idea of sitting for one minute at a time and taking 4 -5 slow deep breaths (this is a form of meditation / mindfulness).
You may be surprised how quickly the time goes by and how much more centered and present you become as you add this simple habit to your day. It’s so easy that you may even decide to do it multiple times during the day.
Enjoy the video and perhaps think about one thing you may like to do differently today.
