Nonotuck Park Easthampton

Nonotuck Park is a hidden gem in Easthampton. It’s a sweet little park with walking trails both on and off road.

The park abuts Nashawannuck Pond and has Mount Tom in the background, so there are water views, mountain views, and picturesque fields in every season.

During the winter months you can’t drive through the park but the paved roads are easy to walk on. If you prefer off-road hiking or jogging, “yak tracks” or any other traction footwear brand is highly recommended when there’s snow or ice on the ground.

People also walk (and skate and fish) on the pond when it’s frozen, which is often for several months of the winter.

There are field and paths to cross country ski on.

There is always at least one beaver dam on the pond, which is easily visible from the L.E. Toteman Trail that follows the pond to its end.

You’ll also see lots of evidence of the beaver’s hard work throughout the park.

When it snows, there are no shortages of people willing to clear the ice on many sections of the pond so skating may continue.

I had to include this picture of the WOWEE bridge, (presumably made by boy scouts), because it makes me smile every time I go over it.

It’s a great little park in our back yard which allows us to walk somewhere different, or explore in the woods without worrying about getting lost.

Winter can be fun and active if we bundle up and maybe do something a little differently.
