Axe Throwing
If you’re looking to get off the couch and try something new, check out the Axe House in Agawam.
A group of us went out to play recently and it was very entertaining. It actually took a bit of effort for most of us to get the hang of it but eventually everyone was hitting the target pretty consistently.
Some of the best workouts are the ones that are nothing but fun. We laughed a ton and moved our bodies for an hour doing something new, which also stimulated our brains.
We get into routines and it’s challenging to come up with new things to do sometimes.
Throwing an axe at a block of wood, and paying money to do it, is kind of funny when we could do it in our own backyards, but the structure of it made it compelling.
It’s so fun for some people that there are now leagues and national competitions with various sized axes.
My dad is turning 80 this month and he’s excited that we’re taking him out to throw some axes at a target. Again, he’s a guy who loves playing on his Kubota and chopping down trees, but there’s something about it that’s drawing him in.
If you get a chance and it holds even a spark of appeal to you, I encourage you to check it out.
It was fun, friends, and movement. What’s not to love with that combination!
And at the end of your hour they take a goofy picture with props.…
Action Steps:
If axe throwing is not your thing, consider what other activity you might try out to have some different fun while stimulating your brain.
This might include virtual golf, ping pong, an adult dance class, or any other activity you can imagine that sounds entertaining.
Go out and have some new fun!
